This bike climb is through beautiful North Cheyenne Cañon Regional Park. The park is a National Register of Historic Places, and rightly so.  This is a superb ride that anyone living in or visiting the Colorado Springs area should experience...in addition to Pikes Peak (egads!).

Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center as at the beginning of the climb:

Cherished as a local landmark for many years, this stone building was originally the home of the Starsmore family. It was purchased by the City of Colorado Springs and moved to its present location in 1992. It serves as an introduction to Cheyenne Cañon Park and its beautiful waterfalls, rock formations, wildflowers and wildlife. Here you will discover activities for guests of all ages.  (Colorado Springs)

Continue left onto High Drive for views of North Cheyenne Cañon, or . . .

right onto Lower Gold Camp Road for views of Colorado Springs.

Both roads are manageable dirt and gravel, Lower Gold more so than High Drive.

High drive is doable on a road bike -- I used 28mm on my Roubaix for this climb and it worked ok.

Continue on High Drive for some great views of North Cheyenne Cañon.

Lower Gold Camp Road.

I rode down one mile, and what an experience!

One mile down Lower Gold Camp Road you have extraordinary views of Colorado Springs.  The road is easily managed on a road bike and there is a very cool tunnel along the way.

Traffic and Roadway Surface Report: The 3.2 miles of paved road on this climb are pristine, and there is moderate but  slow moving traffic.  This is simply an exceptional climb that we highly recommend.
