CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Dead Indian Pass, Shoshone National Forest.

DEAD INDIAN PASS WEST

Climb Summary from PJAMM’s Bruce Hamilton.

The west side climb up Dead Indian Pass starts and where the river crosses the road about 7.5 miles from the summit. The climb from this side is shorter and steeper than the east side ascent and more scenic. The forest is a little more dense on the west slope and the road has many hairpins that are visible below as you climb higher. It’s quite remote but highly recommended if you are in the area. We rode both sides of this pass in one ride – easy to do in one day. Smooth surface – good for both the climb and the descent.

Hairpins visible below as we ascend.

Ride 7.5 miles gaining 2,072’ at 5.2% average grade.

DEAD INDIAN PASS EAST

Cycling Dead Indian Pass East

Ride 13.3 miles gaining 3,070’ at 4.2% average grade.

Thanks much Bruce and Stacy!!!
