An easy start away from Mulholland soon gets solid as you climb the ridge. Good views in places. Steeper grade is towards the top but there is nothing too difficult on this one. It leads to lots of other up and down riding in a scenic area.

CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Stunt Road from Mulholland Highway - bike parked on roadside overlooking panoramic views of Santa Monica Mountains

Cycling Stunt Road from Mulholland Highway

Santa Monica Mountains, California

Ride 3.8 miles gaining 1,323’ at 6.6% average grade.

Stunt Road is one of the best climbs in the Santa Monica Mountains not starting on Pacific Coast Highway.  This is a challenging, fun and scenic climb with mild traffic.  We also consider Stunt Road, along with the high point on Yerba Buena 20 miles west, to be one of the finish hubs in the Santa Monica Mountains.

From PCH, three great climbs can finish at Stunt Road:

Las Flores Canyon, Big Rock, and Topanga Canyon.

Cycling Stunt Road from Mulholland Highway - PJAMM Cyclist John Johnson stands with bike on hillside overlooking Santa Monica Mountains, intersection of Stunt, Schueren, and Saddle Peak Roads, aerial view of Santa Monica Mountains showing Stunt Road Junction

Our research suggests Stunt Road gets its name from the original family to homestead a ranch in this area.
