Ride 9.7 miles to 5,830’ gaining 1,782’ at 3.2%

We ride along the edge of the national park, but only ever enter it at mile 8.2.  Home to Guadalupe Peak, Texas’s highest point, Guadalupe Mountain National Park was established in 1972 and consists of 86,367 acres, within the Guadalupe Mountain range.

This is a fairly remote climb (there’s not even a full Strava segment for it) in east central Texas, 105 miles east of El Paso and the US border with Mexico.

From the finish of the bike climb, take a strenuous 8.5 mile round trip (4.25 miles to the summit) hike to the highest point in Texas.  Guadalupe Peak offers 360 degree views of the surrounding Texas plain 8,000’ below.  See the National Park Service website for more information.
