This one is "short," but an absolute monster. Where I come from, Brasstown Bald and Bell Mountain are the hardest climbs. This made Brass feel easy by comparison and that one is STEEP. This climb just over a mile but at NO point is the grade less than 15-16%. The average is about 18% and there are 3 specific points where it goes well OVER 20% some say 27%. Even if you hug the sides on the few turns, there is no relief and it's just one steep monster. You also typically have to climb to get here unless you start in Sormano. I got lucky, but bc it is mostly in the shade, it is often wet, which is tricky for traction. For me it was a trog of 40something to 50something cadence and standing. I did not stop, but I imagine if you did stop, starting at that grade would require some kind of sideways jump start move. There are no cars allowed and only other bikes and hikers. Few people try this each day, so it's not crowded (I saw one hiker and he said "Allez Allez Allez!!" to encourage me).
