Gran Sasso is a massif in the Apennine Mountains in central Italy.  This climb is located in Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga which is an extremely popular and scenic national park (established 1991; 1413 square km/141,300 hectares or 349,160 acres; Google Map + Reviews).

Gran Sasso has been featured in the Giro d’Italia 5 times since 1971 as of 2020.
