Laukahi is a neighborhood road on the north side of Kalanianaʻole Highway. The climb is moderate to challenging, and has some gorgeous views of Diamond Head, Waialae Country Club and the Kahala neighborhood. The guard shack is at about the 1.7 mile mark. They rarely stop cyclists, but if they do, just let them know you're going to the hike at the summit. No permit or ID required, they have to let you up - it's a public hiking trail.
