Climb Summary

Bicycle ride up Wilhelmina Rise - bike with jersey at street sign

Cycling Wilhelmina Rise, Honolulu

Ride UP .8 miles gaining 601’ at 15% average grade!

Climbing Wilhelmina Rise by bike - Diamond Head through bike wheel

View at the top - Diamond Head in view on the descent.

This is the steepest bike climb in Honolulu and is quite the beast.  Turning off of Waialae Avenue onto Wilhelmina Rise we see in the distance an intimidating wall rising up in front of us.

Climbing Wilhelmina Rise by bike - Diamond Head through bike wheel

This climb reminds us of our some of the steepest streets in San Francisco although it never hits the 30% marks as so many of those in San Francisco do.

Half way up - Diamond Head behind us.

Biking Wilhelmina Rise, garmin showing 26% grade

Hard to see but that’s a 26% read!

A compact chain ring and at least a 32t is recommended for all but the elite cyclists.
