The climb isn't quite marked correctly on Pjamm in my opinion. Starting at Curva 0 (hairpin 0) just above Coral Quemado to Valle Nevado yields 1748 m elevation gain @ avg 5.7% but starting a the YPF gas station on the East side of Santiago gives another ~500m of elevation though at a gentle 2-5% with kickers. Anyways, the climb: very difficult. Things aren't too bad on the 41 hairpins to Farellones, there are some steep portions (like above Yerba Loca) but the climb is quite manageable. There is a kiosk offering snacks and drinks just above curve 23, about halfway to Farellones. Above Farellones the altitude starts to hit (2000+m) and there is a descent before starting the final 650m to Valle Nevado which will kill any rhythm in your legs. The final climb is totally exposed and high altitude so even in the summer it can be cold and usually windy. The road conditions start to deteriorate and there can be rockfall. Great scenery, eagles, condors, foxes, Andean cats.

Cycling Valle Nevado, Chile

Ride 29.3 kilometers from 1370m to 2978m gaining 1729m at 5.5%.

We begin our climb just in the Santiago Province of Lo Barnechea and ride 29 km to the Valle Nevado Ski Resort.

Start of climb

What is most notable about this climb are the incredible hairpins and Cerro El Plomo which becomes visible towards the top of our climb.

Towards the top of the climb, we have clear views of Cerro El Plomo, a mountain peak in the Nevado del Plomo Mountains of the Andes.  On a clear day, Cerro El Plomo is the biggest peak in the Andes visible from Santiago, roughly 30 kilometers away.
