INTRO
Kortum Canyon is by far one of the most scenic and stunning climbs in Sonoma County. It starts on a small road past bbq (which is really) and immediately gets steep. It climbs through the forest, and after several steep pitches you hit an open view of an amazing vineyard and canyon. Soon after this there is a gravel section, this fun section takes you to Sharp road. Going right you connect to Calistoga Rd (which is busy and heavily trafficked, we'd descending back to Calistoga and either taking Franz Valley back to Santa Rosa or getting some bbq from Busters. If you go left on Sharp road the gravel continues and becomes more chunky, this turns into Dimond Mt Rd. The gravel on Kortum Canyon is fine on a road bike, the gravel towards Dimond Mt needs tires wider than 28, especially if conditions are muddy.

Brutal! There are three real steep kicker sections but you get breaks in between to take in the nice views of the vineyards. Gravel section starts after you reach the top of the climb and is all downhill with one mini kicker.
