Climb summary by PJAMM Ambassador Bruce Hamilton.
The North Ogden Divide West is a short but steep climb, measuring about three miles with an average gradient of 8.2% and a total elevation gain of 1,301 feet, finishing at 6,098 feet. Most of the climb registers double-digit gradients on cycling computers, with a substantial stretch at 12%, making it much tougher than its short distance suggests. The route starts on the outskirts of Ogden and ascends immediately, offering expansive views of the city, the Salt Lake Valley, and even the Great Salt Lake. Summer temperatures can be high, so it’s best to ride early or during cooler seasons, and while the climb isn’t long, reaching the summit is a rewarding challenge.
