Climb Summary

“The climb of 73 East is a solid ascent from the small town of Keene that leads towards Lake Placid along with some traffic at times.  The grade is solid to start as you pull away from the small town of Keene.  It then becomes stair step as the road heads through a sweeping left turn.  The grade then eases for the remainder of the climb.  Towards the top the route becomes quite scenic.  A rock wall signals the summit is near and the listed climb’s unmarked top occurs as the lake appears on the left.  Beyond, the road continues to climb intermittently but shallowly as significant climbing has ended.” (This quote is provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike) in the Northeast, pg. 114.)
