Summary by Ties Arts, Netherlands.

This climb was designed to make the Vuelta exciting with incredibly steep grades to a mountain top finish.  Machucos has been included in the Vuelta a España only 2017 (stage 17 won by Alberto Contador, ESP,  after disqualification of Stefan Denfil) and 2019 (Stage 13 won by Tadej Pogačar, SLO) .
