Cycling Banner Grade to Julian
Ride 6.2 miles gaining 1,455’ at 4.4% average grade.
This is all about the ride to Julian which is a designated California Historical Landmark. Julian is a preserved former gold mining town famous for its apples and apple pie.

This climb starts at the Banner Store and ends in the town of Julian. The Banner Store is barely a store and is only open sometimes so depending on how you approach this ride make sure you have plenty of water.

Summer temperatures can be triple digits and it’s desert dry. We’ve ridden in 100 degrees and we’ve ridden it with snow on the upper portion. It’s a mild climb but very quiet and scenic.
