This road seems like a peaceful neighborhood climb, but it pays off when you get to the top with stellar ocean views, and even views of Mt Baldy far to the east. This road is in our opinion the best way to get from Topanga back to the PCH.

I miss Tuna Canyon greatly! During the 1970s I made a total of 8 ascents, four on tubular tires and four on clinchers. Bikes were my 1971 Nishiki Competition and my 1960 Capo Modell Campagnolo. I never considered descending, but always made the loop to Topanga. I am absolutely bummed that Tuna is now a one-way road the wrong way (downhill only).
Favorite story: I worked at a bike shop and invited the manager to break in his brand-new Colnago on Tuna Canyon. He got as far as the first switchback, declared "This is BS," and headed back home, while I completed the climb.
