“The west side of Route 66 is a shorter and more stout overall climb compared to its east side that begins from Route 112. It launches over solid grade as you quickly encounter woods along with a few houses. Two miles in find a flat and then soon after a short descent which knocks down the hill’s average grade. Climbing then resumes over moderate grade which continues up to its listed top at Alan Coit Road on the right.” (This quote provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike) in the Northeast, pg. 83.)
