Climb Summary

“Russel Stage Road is a solid hill that parallels Interstate 90 in the western part of Massachusetts.  It begins among houses and over shallow grade that soon gets a bit steeper.  Higher up, you will ride through woods and over a stair step grade with the uphill ramps getting steeper as you go.  At mile 4.5 you cross under Interstate 90 over solid slope.  Soon the pedaling gets easier and at mile 3.8 you reach Route 23 in Blandford.  Turn right for 0.1 miles to finish the listed hill at North Street in the right.  Its steeper ramps make Russell Stage Road an interesting descent as well.” (This quote provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike) in the Northeast, pg. 84.)
