Not too tough, but a great climb to add a little spice to your ride without having to leave the city.

CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Paris Mountain West

Ride 2.2 miles gaining 749’ at 6.6% average grade.

Climb summary by PJAMM ambassador Dan Razum, San Jose, CA.

This is a nice ride, not too far from the city.  There is an area where you can park right at the base of the climb, in case you don't want to ride from elsewhere in the city.

We climb through a thick forest with lots of shade.  On the south side of Paris Mountain there are quite a few houses but on this side it is mostly just forest. However, there aren't any views of the city from this side.

We ride on Altamont Road, which is a narrow two lane road with no shoulder.  The pavement is in good condition and traffic is fairly light.  We encountered several cyclists along the way, it is a popular ride for the locals.

The climb finishes at the intersection with Tower Road.  If you turn on Tower Road you can climb a little more, up to some antenna towers, but there is a sign saying that Tower Road is closed and there is also a gate, which may or may not be open so we don't know if cyclists are welcome on Tower Road or not.

Finish at Tower Road.
