Great climb for a newbie climber. Moderate, relatively consistent grade and a safe descent. Some traffic, but good road quality and a common cycling route. Parking and port-a-pot available at Portland Park which also provides a flatter warm-up of roughly 3.5 miles before the climb.

This is a great mid-distance climb. It'll give you a workout but not a killer. Nice scenery. The 1 or 2 mile approach is flat and a good primer. Moderate traffic but people tend to give you plenty of space. For some of the climb Suck Creek is running below the bank on your right giving a real peaceful vibe. I will definitely be back.
