CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Fafler Alp

Ride 20.4 kilometers gaining 1,113 meters at 5.4% average grade.

The Fafler Alp climb is a little used route located in the far eastern section of the Valais Region, a top world cycling area -  https://pjammcycling.com/zone/183.Valais-Switzerland.  The climb consists of several sections of rollers and the steepest kilometer averages 10%.

PJAMM ambassador Helmuth Dekkers writes of this climb:

The section of this climb up until the new tunnel at 4.3 km is good, with nice hairpins and views on the valley. The 2.6km long tunnel is manageable, but no fun. I cycled it outside the main Holiday season and do not recommend it during busier times. There is no alternative for the tunnel as the bridge in the old route is not available. I also recommend using at least one tail light. The light in the tunnel is fine but it is good to be visible for cars coming from behind. After the tunnel there is less traffic and the ride is very scenic.
