Cycling Pas de Morgins from Monthey

This is another fantastic climb in the Valais Region (Canton) of Switzerland, one of the greatest climbing areas in the world (PJAMM Valais Climb Area). The crux of this climb is the first 12 km which average 7% (steepest kilometer along that segment is 8.5% and steepest 2 kilometers is 8.3%). The final 3.5 kilometers are much milder at 3.2%.
This climb is more popular than many Swiss climbs because it has been included in the Tour de France 4 times between 2012 and 2022.

The climb begins in Monthey with 3 big hairpins. There is another nice set of 6 hairpins about half way up the climb.
The castle top left was built in 950.
The climb finishes at the Swiss-France border.
