INTRO
Rising above the capital city of Malabo on Bioko Island in Equatorial Guinea, Pico Basile is the highest point in the country at nearly 10k feet above sea level (3011 m). The climb is long, steep, and relentlessly humid, starting at sea level and grinding upward through dense tropical forest into misty volcanic highlands. This is an exotic island climb - on a clear day you can see mainland Africa from the top.
As for many PJAMM World Top 100s, this climb takes a tremendous amount of effort to get to - but we've partnered up with a local tour group Rumbo Malabo who will take care of every detail, not only making this a realistic climb to conquer but also making your trip (besides the ride!) as easy as possible. See Travel Tips tab below to learn more.
