I started this climb from Outdoor Club Road, it adds another 100 feet or so to the climb. I would recommend a mountain bike for this climb; the road is rock, absolutely not a road bike especially on the way down. I parked at the top at Banner Overlook, rode down to outdoor club road and then turned around for the climb. A little harder than Mertens West climb.
