Nice little climb just out of Fayetteville. Devils Den state park is a hidden gem with amazing hiking and Mtn biking trails. This climb through a series of switchbacks can easily be made into a 20+ mile ride with nearly 2000ft of elevation. No entrance fees or passes needed to access and park at Devils Den.

CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling The Devil’s Den

Ride 1.8 miles gaining 675’ at 7.2% average grade.

Climb summary by PJAMM Ambasador Dan Razum, San Jose, California.

This is an enjoyable climb out of Devil's Den State Park.  We start near the bridge over Lee Creek, around the middle of the park, and make our way up the hill and through the forest to eventually exit the park.

There are plenty of parking areas and also no entrance fee for the park.  The road is in good condition and although it is narrow, the twists and curves prevent traffic from going very fast so we can enjoy the climb and not worry too much about cars.

The ride is pleasant and relaxing (well, you do have to work a bit, you are climbing, after all) as the road twists through the forest.  The gradient isn't bad and the curves keep it interesting.   There is plenty of shade and you feel close to nature with the trees and the birds singing and maybe a squirrel of two along the way.

A peaceful, pleasant and fun climb.
