Ride 5.4 miles gaining 1,262’ at 4.2% average grade.

Start climb at the corner of Prefumo Canyon and Los Osos Valley Road.

While this intersection is a good start point, the first three miles of the climb from here only average 2%.  At about 3.1 miles the climb begins and the last 2.2 miles average 7.2%.

After about a mile we leave the western outskirts of San Luis Obispo and begin a very scenic and peaceful ride to the top of Prefumo Canyon Road, which is surrounded by pastureland and the peaks of surrounding mountains which are often just visible above fog banks and cloud cover.  This is considered one of the most scenic roads in the San Luis Obispo area.
