We rode this on a Specialized Roubaix with 28mm tires which were quite adequate and not a problem on the hard packed gravel. This is a very pleasant, private and scenic route that is quite the adventure. While the 20 miles of pavement exposes us to very mild traffic, the 20 miles on the gravel has even less traffic (perhaps a motor vehicle every 15 minutes or so).
