“Sugar Loaf/Red Hill Road is another solid Empire State climb that includes a double digit grade half mile within its lower half. The slope is variable overall and via a pleasant wooded route within a country neighborhood and with little traffic. At mile 3.5 turn left on Red Hill Road to continue. The grade eases as you approach the unmarked but obvious top (driveway on right) as the grade flattens and the road is a fund descent.” (This quote is provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike) in the Northeast, pg. 136.)
