Climb Summary

Climb Summary

Nelligan Road is a little known Sonoma County climbing jewel.  For almost the  entire 2.4 miles of this climb, we are treated to views of Kunde Vineyards to our left  (west) and several vineyards to our right - this climb has one of the highest  "vineyard contact" per mile exposures of any Sonoma or Napa County climb -  for nearly the entire climb we are in sight of gorgeous Sonoma County vineyards.

The climb is off busy Hwy 12, but is only a mile north of Trinity Road  (#12 on the  Tri-County List) which is one of the few climbing connectors between Sonoma and  Napa Counties.

Traffic/Roadway Surface:  You've heard the saying "perception is reality"?  Well, for  Nelligan Road, roadway patches are the roadway - the patches have become the  road, which is very rough and gravelly throughout, but can safely be navigated on  a road bike.  There is minimal to zero traffic.  This is a one-lane, yet very safe road.
