CLIMB SUMMARY

This bridge isn’t much of a climb, but it’s the most elevation gain you’ll get in south Florida without getting on an elevator. So, since technically this is one of the toughest climbs in the state of Florida, it gets a page.

Great views of downtown Miami to the north...

…and views of the open ocean to your right.

There’s a rather expensive toll for driving across the bridge to the Key, but cyclists and pedestrians can go back and forth any hour of the day for free

A cool beach park right at the start of the climb.

There’s a very nice bike lane, but I chose to ride on the sidewalk for extra protection with the concrete barrier. It’s a 3 lane road with cars driving at highway speeds, and can feel like you’re riding along an interstate.

Looking back towards the park and the start of the climb
