INTRO
From Casa du Velo travel north to the nearby town of Filandia and then on to El Roble. The beginning of the ride is tough because there is no time for warm-up prior to the climbing. At El Roble you will only be 7 miles into the ride but will have already climbed 1000 feet from the start. From El Roble there is some downhill before reaching Salento. After that it is a long 7-8% grade to the top of the Cocora Valley. Lush pastures, grazing cows, mountain peaks, and the unique wax palm trees coupled with excellent road surfaces make this one of my favorite climbs.
