La Bérarde is often regarded as a base or starting point for excursions into the high mountains, including routes to notable peaks like La Meije and Barre des Écrins, offering challenges for mountaineers of varying skill levels. La Bérarde is not a bustling urban center but more of a serene mountain hamlet, attracting those who seek tranquility, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure. Visitors to the area can enjoy the stunning alpine landscapes, pristine valleys, and diverse flora and fauna characteristic of the Ecrins National Park.
