This is a hill made famous (well, at least to the ultra-triathlon community) by the Norseman Triathlon.  Our segment plus another 5.4 kilometers on trail is the final run segment and finish of the Norseman - one of the hardest triathlons in the world. The name comes from the fact the hill turns extraordinary and extreme athletes into Zombies.
Average grade is 7.4%.  60% of the climb is at 5-10% grade and 16% is at 10-15%. The steepest 500 meters is 10.4% average grade.

CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Zombie Hill

Ride 13.8 kilometers gaining 1,029 meters ata 7.4% average grade.

This is part of the final segment (all up hill) of the Norseman one of (if not the) toughest triathlons in the world.  This is part of the run, not bike, but it is where the name Zombie Hill derives - it turns extreme athletes who have endured extraordinary physical challenges to that point into “Zombies.”

The turn off for the hike (or run) on the trail for the final portion of the Norseman is on the right at kilometer 12 of our bike climb.  From that point you may hike/run the final segment of the Norseman course which from the paved road is 5.2 kilometers gaining 670 meters at an extraordinary 22% average grade (map of run/hike segment).
