Passo Teglia climbs 11.7 km (7.3 mi) from 434 m (1,425 ft) to 1358 m (4,454 ft), a gain of 923 m (3,029 ft) at an average grade of 7.9%.
There is very little rest. The opening kilometer is among the hardest at 10.1%, and from there the road settles into a 7.6% to 9.1% rhythm through km 5. It eases to 6.1% in the sixth kilometer and 4.8% in the eighth, then runs a steady 8.1% to 8.2% between km 8 and km 11 before relaxing to 6.7% on the final stretch.
The steepest 0.25 mi (0.4 km) averages 16.7%, the steepest 0.5 km (0.3 mi) 14.7% and the steepest kilometer (0.6 mi) 11.8%. A very short pitch touches 27.5% over 100 yd (91 m), but the sustained steep stretches top out near 12%. The steepest mile (1.6 km) averages 11.1%, the steepest 5 km (3.1 mi) 9.0%, and the steepest 10 km (6.2 mi) 8.1%.
Roadway: Paved throughout on the SP17, a narrow provincial road with numerous hairpins in the wooded lower section. Surface quality varies: riders reported fresh asphalt over long stretches of the Molini side in 2025 and 2026 after potholes were repaired, but patches of rough pavement remain, and the road is prone to landslides that have interrupted it more than once. If you continue over the saddle toward Rezzo, the far side is rougher than the climb, though 25 mm tires have coped.
Traffic: Very light. This is one of the quieter paved climbs in the Imperia hinterland - a handful of local cars, hikers' vehicles and the occasional goat herd. The western flank is exposed to summer thunderstorms, so pick a stable day.
Parking: Molini di Triora's village square and the larger lot just above it serve this climb as well as the Colle Melosa start; the details are on our Colle Melosa (Molini di Triora) page. At the top there is a picnic area with information panels near the saddle.
Gear: A compact crankset with a 30-tooth or larger cassette is a sound choice for kilometers that rarely drop below 8%. Tires of 28 mm or wider make the rougher patches more comfortable, especially if you carry on down the Rezzo side.
Provisions: Fill bottles and eat in Molini di Triora before you start. The climb passes few settlements, so carry enough food and water for the climb and the return.

Molini di Triora is the natural base, and the Valle Argentina itself - Triora's witch-trial museum and the village's September snail festival - is covered on our Colle Melosa (Molini di Triora) page. For Teglia the better local color lies over the ridge.
Rezzo, in the Arroscia valley, is the gateway to the Bosco di Rezzo, an FAI-listed beech forest of more than 800 hectares that shelters wolves, chamois and several orchid species. From the saddle, footpaths lead to Carmo di Brocchi and Monte Monega, and the pass sits on the line of the ancient Marenca road; partisans and Nazi-fascist troops fought here in World War II. Back in the Argentina valley, the toppled menhir at Ciotta di San Lorenzo near Molini points to prehistoric herding settlement.
The longer approach from Pieve di Teco is on our Passo Teglia (SS28) page and makes a good second day. Most riders come between April and September, and our Routes in the Area tool shows the other climbs around the valley, including the links toward Colle d'Oggia and Monte Ceppo.
