CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Pennys Hill

Ride 2.7 kilometers gaining 220 meters at 8.1% average grade.

This is a popular climb frequently included in the Tour Down Under.

Climb Summary by PJAMM’s Brad Butterfield

It seems that every new area that I ride in Adelaide becomes my new favorite. Pennys Hill Road may as well be the set of a happy movie. During this time of year especially, you’ll get to ride through the vibrant fall colors of the spent vineyards - having already been picked for the wine harvest season. There will probably be a bit of light traffic, but everyone drives very respectfully around cyclists here. The climb itself doesn’t pack much of a punch. There are some steep pitches but nothing worth whining home about. I highly recommended swinging a right onto ‘Range Road’ just after the summit of the climb and connecting over to Old Willunga Hill while you’re in the area

Climb begins just after Penny's Hill Winery

Climb start.

Plenty of cool (literally and figuratively) eucalyptus along this route.

Finish just before the Range War Memorial Hall at Range Road.
