CLIMB SUMMARY

The Remarkables: New Zealand's toughest and one of, if not the, most iconic climb

The climb is located in the south of New Zealand, in the Province Otago near the city of Queenstown and starts nearby the beautiful lake Wakatipu. The Remarkables road leads to the ski resort The Remarkables and is a dead-end road.

This climb is Legendary!

It is Legendary because all elements of a legendary climb are on the checklist.

Is it tough?

Damn it is. It’s New Zealand's toughest climb with 9,7% average over 13,3km

How is the pavement?

It’s good, though still 3km on rideable dirt (against 10%+) at the end.  Hard work!

What about the views?

They are just unbelievably good, sceneries of unprecedented nature, lakes, mountains, freedom!  And at the beginning of the climb a series of 10 switchbacks to warm up.

The Remarkables stands for the Remarkable mountain range, one of the only two in the world which runs from north to south. The highest point is Single Cone (2319m).
