I rode this stretch with family and friends by starting in Ferndale, CA. Then riding east through the Avenue of Giants. Then up and over on Mattole Rd, through Honeydew, CA to camp out at A.W. County Park. Next day we completed the 101 miler by riding out to the coast through Patrolia, CA back to Ferndale. We did come upon and couple of expert racers that had just parked to "practice" climbing The Wall for the upcoming 100 mile race via this loop we were on. Look up "Tour of Unknown Coast" (about 9000' of climb!). The parking area is rather small turnouts before and after the bridge crossing Burr Creek, about 1 mile south of the climb. Actually, there are a few turnouts along the coast here to access the beaches.

The first view of "The Wall" from the road as you approach the climb. 1st quarter mile is the steepest. Then makes a sharp right turn to the east. The bump up from the inside track through the turn to the straightaway is really.... challenging.
