Stage 7 covers 149.8 km from Vall d'Alba to a summit finish at the Aramón Valdelinares ski resort in the Sierra de Gúdar, the Vuelta's first true mountain-top finish of 2026. Four climbs come before the finale: Puerto El Remolcador (Cat. 2, 12.4 km at 4.3%) at km 52, Alto de Zucaina (Cat. 3, 5.5 km at 5%) at km 66, Fuente de Rubielos (Cat. 3, 6 km at 6.3%) at km 105, and Puerto de San Rafael (Cat. 2, 11.1 km at 4.3%) at km 136. The stage then finishes with a final climb into Valdelinares — roughly 9.8 km at 5.9% — a hard enough summit finish to open real time gaps between the GC contenders.
PLAN YOUR ROUTE

The four early climbs are all moderate — nothing over 6.3% average — and serve mainly to soften legs before the finale. The Valdelinares summit finish is the real test: about 9.8 km at an average of 5.9%, winding up through pine forest to the ski station at roughly 1,700 m. It's not brutally steep, but the steady, sustained gradient after 140 km of racing is where the selection happens.
Roads are well-maintained CV regional highways for most of the route, with the climb to Valdelinares on a wider ski-resort access road that's in good condition year-round. Parking is straightforward in Vall d'Alba; near the finish, expect resort-area parking to fill up on race day, so arrive early if you're driving up to watch.
Compact gearing with a 30-32 tooth low gear is a smart choice for the Valdelinares finish, especially after 140 km in the legs. At around 1,700 m elevation the ski station can be noticeably cooler than the valley floor, so pack a light layer for the descent if you're riding the full route rather than just watching.

Vall d'Alba has minimal tourist infrastructure; Castelló de la Plana, about 25 km away, is the better base for lodging and transit. Valdelinares itself is a small ski village with limited beds — book well ahead if you plan to stay near the finish on race night, as rooms will go fast for a mountain-top stage finish.
