Started from Waikiki Beach and headed eastbound, north of Diamond Head then along Kalaniana'ole Hwy (72) to the Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline, which begins the upward assent to the top of Makapu'u. No vehicles allowed, so just hikers to ride between, but they were all friendly and with proper communication will veer to the side. Nice smooth wide blacktop pavement. Views are unbelievable! Prize for reaching the top is some more spectacular views and the Makapu'u Lighthouse. Went up the climb 2.5 times on this trip. On way back to Waikiki, stopped at a food truck at Sandy Beach for a refreshing pineapple smoothie.
