CLIMB SUMMARY

Cycling Tenerife’s Lighthouse climb

Ride 3.5 kilometers gaining 202 meters at 5.7% average grade.

This climb begins at the lighthouse and climbs 3.5 kilometers from there.

4.7 Google Review from 3,137 reviews at of October, 2022.

This climb and the loop associated with it is all about the lighthouse and Masca.  Although the traditional loop is counterclockwise starting in Santiago del Teide (72 kilometers gaining 1,883 meters) it descends rather than ascends Masca - therefore, we recommend doing the loop counterclockwise.

The first lighthouse on this point was completed in 1897 and the current, but not open to the public, lighthouse went into service in 1978.

2 brief tunnels on the way to the lighthouse - no need for lights.

Sheer cliffs to the right as we climb towards the tunnel.
