Hiking Mauna Loa from the finish of the longest cycling climb in the world.

Hike round trip 12.8 miles - to the summit 13,679’ at 7.7% (8.6% excluding descent).

This is a very strenuous and lengthy climb.  As you can see from our last photo, we made it back right at sunset.  We began our hike at 9:05am on May 26, 2022 and finished at 7:00pm on the dot.

After hiking to the summit of Mauna Kea from the Visitor Center, this is the toughest climb on the Island of Hawaii.

Start the climb at 11,000’ at the end of the paved road.

We started the climb at 9:05 a.m.

We reached the summit at 3:30pm

We made it back to the bottom at 7:00pm
