INTRO
Logan Rhodes - I would say it’s doable with a gravel bike but it would be terrible. The road is made with a lot of chunky rock that makes it rough even on a f.s. Bike. 4
Jon DeLacey - Engineer pass is rideable on gravel bike from lake city to top of pass. The west side or Silverton side of pass is much rougher and steeper. I wouldn’t do the west side on a gravel bike but it is not impossible. West side is 4/5 for roughness and east side is 2/5. If I was going to do it on gravel bike I would go east to west.
Donncha Cuttriss - A lot of it is rideable in the first section but it gets rougher, steeper and more difficult as you ascend. For road surface from 1 smooth to 5 very rough, at its easiest 1-2 and roughest about 10% of the road it’s 4-5.
Kirby Bryant - It may be ridable by gravel bike, but it would be really rough for a couple miles! I would give it a 4-5 on a 1 smooth to 5 extremely rough scale.
