Aaron Blondeau Strava write-up: Decided to use my smaller more road friendly tires (38s) as I knew I'd mostly be hiking on the pass even with a mountain bike. Road was pretty torn up by ATVs and not very rideable so the tire choice worked out great. Cafe in Villa Grove saved me with a much needed cinnamon roll and fresh water. I started later than planned so wind and high traffic volume made things a bit scary on 285.
Dustin Hilsabeck - it is rideable on a gravel bike, but there may be some hike a bike along the way.
