INTRO
Kristen Tuggle - This climb is very rideable on a gravel bike with road surface 2 on the 1-5 scale, 3 in some stretches.
Kyle Moncur - This climb is doable on a gravel bike, I have friends that do it all the time. I did it once or twice on a gravel bike but only a mountain bike since. Most of the route is a 1 or 2 but there are a few sections of 4 on a 1-5 scale for road surface. So gravel bike is definitely doable just more comfortable on a mtn bike.
Steve Larsen - 90% the climb is fairly smooth, but there are several rutted sections and boulder fields that had me out of the saddle and hiking. Seasoned gravel riders/Mtn bikers could probably navigate it but I couldn’t. I much prefer the climb to Francis Peak - turn left mile 8.5 instead of right (Francis is north and Skyline to the right).
