INTRO

Westley Girven - A gravel bike is very doable on the eastern side to the summit. Downhill from the summit to the visitor center has some sketchy spots with loose gravel towards the bottom. I would be OK with a gravel bike on that side with the caveat of needing to slow down in some spots on the descent.  There is not much vehicle traffic on the climb. It is a popular road for 4x4 clubs which is how I originally found it on a ride in a Jeep but I've never seen much traffic on the road whether hiking, cycling or out with the Jeep. There is a small campground at the highpoint of the trail. Going east to west, the road is a 2-3 for the surface climbing to the highpoint and a 3 from there to the visitor center. Do not expect shade on the climb. I do not remember if water was available at the small campground. I did get picked up at the visitor center.
