INTRO
Galactic Bushwhack - Might be a 1, 2.5 or a 5 on a 1 smooth to 5 very rough road surface scale. I’ve been on it a lot over the last 12 months (as of July, 2024). It’s been variable every visit— washboard, loose and chunky and also pretty darn smooth right after some grading (albeit it was soft and wet that time). It was very dry and loose the last few visits for me before the summer rain pattern settled in. They had the USFS grader parked off the lower bit with a broken axle. Might be prime now. It’s an excellent climb— and the “other one” next to it is even better (only 1700’). Enjoy! The road is closed to vehicles January through April. That’s an enjoyable time to ride in solitude and potentially great conditions (if they graded it before the closure).
