Cycling Overland Pass-Pavia Road
Ride 4.7 miles gaining 1,596’ at 6.5% average grade.
This climb is a great compliment to Blue Knob-Pavia Road on the opposite side. Together you ride 8.1 miles gaining a serious 3,230’ in altitude! There are some very challenging segments along this climb - ¼ mile at 12% and ½ mile at 11% (in the middle section of the climb).
The climb begins on Overland Pass Road on the east side of Blue Knob State Park and is in the Allegheny subrange of the Appalachian Mountains. The climb ends at the highpoint of the road (which changes to Pavia Road just after you pass the resort complex on your right at mile 3.2).
That’s a wrap.
Roadway surface and traffic: There is minimal traffic on the climb. The road was in somewhat rough shape in September, 2020, but not a problem to ride.
