INTRO

"Red Rock Mountain is a steep and severe test in north central Pennsylvania into Ricketts Glen State Park and is a contender for the most difficult climb in the state.  It contains one of the steepest half miles in the state through the middle of the ascent.  A flat towards the top lowers the average grade.  Through woods for the most part it, after the near flat climbing resumes over moderate grade and then flattens out on top to finish.  It is a fast descent as well over a road that carries little traffic most of the time." (This quote provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike), 2nd Edition, pg. 96.)
