INTRO
"A dark ascent, you contend with very sharp grade to begin the climb of the west side of Sugarloaf Road. The road soon eases as you continue and after about 2 miles the first of 4 flats appear. You then begin to stair step up this hill with several other flats/gentle descents along the way. The uphill sections contains solid grade and the entire route is within thick woods. After the 4th flat section the grade ramps up to double digit again before a final flat arrives signaling the summit." (This quote provided with the approval of John Summerson from his book, The Complete Guide to Climbing (by Bike), 2nd Edition, pg. 98.)
