Cycling Neel(s) Gap North
Ride 3.2 miles gaining 902’ at 5.3% average grade.
This is steady 5-7% climb on a busy highway to a nice summit finish crossed by the Appalachian Trail. We don’t recommend this climb unless it is part of a connector for a loop or other climb. However, the top is a fun visit.
Neels Gap is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Did we mention the traffic . . .
This is the only gap in the area with an information/gift shop at the top. The climb is on Blood Mountain and is within Vogel State Park in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Vogel State Park was established in 1931, is the second oldest Georgia State Park and consists of 233 acres.
The Appalachian Trail crosses Neels Gap.
Blood Mountain is the highest peak of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.
