This is a good alternative to Col d'Aspin (or as part of a loop) with less traffic.

CLIMB SUMMARY

road sign for Hourquette d'Ancizan in front of bright green hillside and sharp stone mountain faces

Cycling Hourquette d’Ancizan from Campan.

Ride 16.7 kilometers gaining 749 meters at 4.1% average grade (5% climb only).

Along with Col du Tourmalet and Col d’Aspin, this is one of the three great bike climbs beginning in Sainte Marie de Campan.  Hourquette has been a minor player (connecting col) in the Tour de France five times (2011, 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022).

photo collage shows idyllic views along the climb - bright green hillsides, a small river winding through a valley, cows grazing in the grass along the hillside, foggy day
